The Andek Cocoon Family

Cocoon 333

This is a strippable nuclear coating. Very useful in encapsulation of mining materials. Fracking waste and encapsulation of transport vehicles. It has been put to use in Nuclear Facilities.

Cocoon 501

COCOON 501 is formulated for interior surfacing of masonry, plywood, steel, etc.  COCOON 501 is a liquid polyvinyl chloride coating which can be sprayed on any clean, dry building surface.  Wherever it is sprayed, it forms a tough, strong, permanent waterproof skin that is adaptable to most surfaces.  COCOON 501 seals against moisture, gases, corrosion, and particulates, and maintains excellent low temperature flexibility.

Outstanding Features of 501:

  • – Highly efficient seal for interior applications such as dust-free areas, shower rooms, brewery fermentation rooms and bottling plants, hospital scrub rooms, and natatoriums
  • – Provides abrasion resistance, washability, moisture protection, chemical resistance, and bacteria resistance
  • – Resists corrosion and surface deterioration caused by acids, oils, fats, greases, and fungi
  • – Maintains an effective gas seal coating in controlled atmosphere storage, hyperbaric suites, and fumigation warehouses
  • – Effectively seals plenum chambers and ducts in environmental control systems against air loss
  • – Bridging characteristics provide a permanent seal around lights, filters, pipe and duct penetrations, and at all ceiling and wall joints.

Cocoon 550

Cocoon 550 – is formulated for protection of exterior surfaces subject to mechanical stresses, impact, and harsh climatic conditions.

COCOON 550 is a liquid polyvinyl chloride coating which can be sprayed on any clean, dry building surface.  Wherever it is sprayed, COCOON 550 will form a tough, flexible, waterproof skin that will withstand the extremes of temperature, thermal shock, differential substrate movement, and impingement.

COCOON 550 is used extensively on promenade decks, traffic bearing roof decks and mechanical room floors where excellent abrasion, waterproof, scuffing and traction enhancement properties are important.

Outstanding Features:

  • – Contains a biocide; limiting mold and mildew intrusion
  • – Excellent protection to exterior surfaces, including roofing and structural decks, to effectively waterproof and seal against moisture presentation.
  • – Tested by Factory Mutual for combustibility and found to be a fire retardant coating that will inhibit the progression of combustion
  • – Cocoon has been in practical architectural use for over fifty years
  • – Approved by the Board of Standards and Appeals of New York City (795-57-SM) for use as a roof covering on hospitals, schools, institutions, commercial and industrial buildings.
  • – Unaffected by intermittent exposure to dilute solutions of alkalies, including sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, and ammonium hydroxide.
  • – Resistant to exposure to most strengths of mineral acids at ambient temperatures and to all concentrations of salt solutions, alcohols, and grease.
  • – Weathering characteristics permit the use of many different pigments and pigment blends to produce a wide variety of colors possessing excellent stability.
  • – Chemical structure permits infinite touch-up and recoating window (new Cocoon coat softens the old coat and “bites in” to offer provision for future maintenance work)

Cocoon 560

Cocoon 560 is formulated for protection of surfaces subject to constant immersion.  It has maxi-mum surface hardness and very high abrasion resistance.

COCOON 560 is a liquid polyvinyl chloride coating which can be sprayed on any clean, dry building surface.  Wherever it is sprayed, it forms a tough, strong, permanent waterproof skin that is adaptable to most interior surfaces.

COCOON 560 is used in many situations including sludge dewatering areas, shower rooms, swimming pools, vehicle cleaning facilities and other areas where abrasion resistance, cleansing, moisture protection and chemical protection are important.

Outstanding Features:

  • – Attractive, joint less, hygienic seal that is highly resistant to impact and abrasion.
  • – Maintains an effective seal against water and water-borne contaminants including chemical treatments and enzymes.
  • – Maintains integrity of seals at pipe and duct penetrations, where expansion and contraction along dissimilar planes causes stress.
  • – Resists abrasion from entrained solids of turbid waters in dynamic flow situations.
  • – Low surface tension reduces drag coefficient at the surface/liquid interface.
  • – Architectural colors available that maintain stability and definition in chemical environments.

Cocoon 72634

Cocoon 72634 is formulated for protection of surfaces subject to incidental foodstuff contact according to the definitions of U.S.D.A. (F.D.A.) requirements.  It has maximum surface hardness and very high abrasion resistance.

COCOON 72634 is a liquid polyvinyl chloride coating which can be sprayed on any clean, dry building surface.  Wherever it is sprayed, it forms a tough, strong, permanent waterproof skin that is adaptable to most interior surfaces.

COCOON 72634 is used in many situations including food processing and packaging facilities, cooling and blast freezers, nitrogen atmosphere storage, bottling plants, water cooling and recycling rooms, separators, and other areas where abrasion resistance, washability, moisture protection and chemical protection are important.

Outstanding Features: 72634

  • – Attractive, joint less hygienic seal that is highly resistant to impact and abrasion
  • – May be used in livestock situations where resistance to physical damage, blood, fecal matter, and biological fluids is essential
  • – Maintains an effective seal against water and water-borne contaminants including chemical treatments and enzymes
  • – Maintains integrity of seals at pipe and duct penetrations, where expansion and contraction along dissimilar planes causes stress
  • – Resists abrasion from entrained solids of turbid waters in dynamic flow situations
  • – Meets the requirements of U.S.D.A. (F.D.A.) for incidental food contact and is approved for these uses
  • – Low surface tension reduces drag coefficient at the surface/liquid interface
  • – Architectural colors available that maintain stability and definition in aggressive environments

Vital Products to most Andek Cocoon projects:

COCOON VINYL BOND B is an adhesion promoter and prime coat for the Cocoon series of products. COCOON VINYL BOND B is an adhesive resin solution which can be sprayed onto any clean, dry building surface where it will rapidly condition the surface to accept the appropriate Cocoon coating. COCOON VINYL BOND B may be used over gypsum board, wood, masonry, concrete and metal surfaces.

COCOON WEBBING AGENT is a resin solution that is a reinforcing additive.

COCOON WEBBING AGENT, when mixed with any Cocoon coating, is used to form a bridge over openings. A properly sprayed coat of COCOON WEBBING AGENT will result in a fine, dry, cobweb-like filament which will not break of its own weight.

COCOON WEBBING AGENT forms part of the Cocoon range of products that have diverse uses for architectural and industrial coatings applications in waterproofing and air sealing. Cocoon has been in continual use for over 50 years.

COCOON CLEANING SOLVENT is a blend of solvents specially formulated for cleaning equipment used for spraying or otherwise applying the Cocoon series of products.

COCOON CLEANING SOLVENT may also be used to adjust the viscosity of the Cocoon coatings for application purposes.
